Shelley Hennessy holding Linda’s portraitOur story

Her love lives on.
Her legacy opens doors.

Shelley Hennessy, Founder and President, created Linda’s Girls in honor of her mother, Linda. Her mother’s love, strength, and encouragement inspire a mission rooted in opportunity and belonging.

That vision is simple: help young women preparing to leave foster care feel seen, supported, and equipped for their next chapter.

“I want young women aging out of foster care to know they are seen, supported, and capable of building stable, successful lives.”

Rooted in Cleveland. Guided by care.

Linda’s Girls is primarily based in Cleveland, Ohio. Its work centers on young women approaching adulthood or moving into independent life after foster care. The goal is to help each young woman build practical skills, identify her next steps, and feel connected to people who care about her future.

Support begins with listening. Education, employment, everyday life, and relationships often overlap; a young woman may need encouragement with several areas at once. Linda’s Girls welcomes support requests and conversations with families, caseworkers, mentors, and community partners.
